How To Choose The Right Smartphone
Choosing the right and perfect smartphone for yourself can be a daunting task especially when you are surrounded by too many brands at a time. True, you have plenty options but if one is not careful, there could be regrets. Nobody really wants to purchase a smartphone today and decide to change it in a few weeks’ time. Only geeks do that, and they have a good reason for it!
There’s a bulk of things everyone should look out for in a smartphone. However, there is no ‘perfect smartphone’. Aperfect smartphone for you might just wear out in three months when there is a much updated version in the market. You get the point? Nonetheless, when you know your onions, you’ll live with a smartphone you are happy with and the same which would last you for quite some time. Now, let’s see how we can help you select the best smartphone(s).

Sony's brand new Xperia M5 will cost around $400Last week, Sony unveiled two new Android Lollipop smartphones - Xperia C5 Ultra and Xperia M5 - both of which will be available to buy starting later this month (at least in some markets).

While Sony didn't reveal the prices of the two devices, we already heard that the Xperia C5 Ultra would cost around $425 in Hong Kong.

Now, we also have info on the price of the Xperia M5. According to ePrice, the M5 will cost around $408 (12,900 TWD) in Taiwan. The C5 Ultra will be cheaper there, costing around $375 (11,900 TWD). All in all, if we're talking about international markets, the Xperia M5 should cost around $400, while the Xperia C5 will probably be a bit cheaper.

On August 13th, the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ will be introduced along with the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. According to a published report, one of the new features on the Galaxy S6 edge+  takes the "People Edge" that allows you to store up to five contacts on the edge of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, and adds a second similar page for apps. This way, opening one of your five favorite apps is as easy as a quick tap on the edge of the glass.

The "People Edge" also has been updated for the Galaxy S6 edge+. Clicking on a contact will give you six options: calling, video chatting, messaging, emailing, sending a picture, and sending an emoticon. The Galaxy S6 edge allows you to send a message, make a call or send an email.

The idea of BlackBerry dropping a smartphone that runs Android is one that piques the interest of many, and in the run-up to the all new BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition, it was believed that the Canadian firm might finally take the bait. It wasn't to be on this occasion, with the refined, shiny new handset packing the more predictable BB10 software, but a new clip has offered a tantalising peek at what might have been.

BlackBerry's first Android smartphone could make its way to the market before the end of this year, if reports on the matter are to be considered reliable. But to many, the Passport would be a viable option if it had the more universal Android software as opposed to BlackBerry 10, and while it's possible to install some Android apps on BB10, the user experience is very different to what you'd get with a typical 'Droid.

Zero to hero: 5 high-end Android smartphones with quick-charging batteries

Need a smartphone that can go from zero to hero as fast as possible? These are the top 5 flagships with quick-charging batteries.

Many will surely agree that battery remains one of the most controversial smartphone topics to date. You probably know the reasoning behind the endless heated discussions on battery life: over the past years, smartphones got bigger, crisper displays, faster data connections, more powerful chipsets, more RAM, sharper cameras, and all sorts of bells and whistles, while notable advancements in terms battery life have failed to materialize.

As pointed out last week when we discussed the best 5 affordable smartphones with great battery life, one way that manufacturers can solve our battery life woes is by integrating larger batteries. Unfortunately, the mobile industry is engulfed in a thinness trend that leaves little room (literally) for large batteries on flagship smartphones.

Although it seems like we can't have very large batteries on flagship handsets, not all hope is lost, as an increasing number of modern flagships come with quick-charging capabilities.

Batteries that charge quickly do not solve the bigger problem: we're still wall huggers. However, with the right smartphone, we won't be sticking near the wall plug for too long. It's not an ideal solution, but it's a tradeoff some are willing to live with.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 to be announced on August 16th?Now that we are into the dog days of summer, you would expect product announcements to slow down. Instead, August appears to be a busy month with the Samsung Unpacked event to be held on August 13th expected to unveil two of the most eagerly awaited phones for the second half of 2015. That would be the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+, of course. Three days after that, on August 16th, we could see the unwrapping of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2.

A Weibo account belonging to Xiaomi's marketing manager, Mr. Tony, included a statement that reads "Do not wait so long to see the side, right? 816 See Beijing." That was followed by another post from IHS Technology Director Wang Yang. Referring to the previous comment, Yang wrote, "Qiazhiyisuan, debut of the Redmi Note 2.″ While this is not quite as official as a statement from Xiaomi itself, it certainly sounds like the fifth largest smartphone manufacturer on the planet (based on Strategy Analytics' Q2 numbers) will be holding an event in Beijing on the 16th of this month. August 16th is traditionally a day when Xiaomi meets the press and offers special deals on its phones and accessories. Besides the introduction of the Redmi Note 2, we expect the company to unveil its latest Android UI, MIUI 7.
